BlizzCon is something of a marvel for fans of Blizzard Entertainment’s games. Not only is it a great time for fans to come together and celebrate their passion for games, but also a time to learn about the future of their titles. Given the events of the past eight months, coming together isn’t entirely possible right now, which puts BlizzCon in a difficult spot. That’s where today’s news comes in. Blizzard is happy to announce that BlizzCon Online (or as they call it, BlizzConline), happens later in February of next year.
BlizzCon Online is going to work a little differently than what we’ve come to expect in previous years. For one, it’s happening in February rather than the usual November timeframe. That’s a bit of a strange move, but one that partially makes sense. They likely need to delay it both to have things to show and due to the pandemic. It’s just strange that it’s a massive three-month gap, but it is what it is. Currently planned for the event is the Cosplay Exhibition, Cosplay Contest, Art Contest, Digital Storytelling Contest, Talent Spotlight, and March of the Murlocs. It’s presumed that joining those events for BlizzCon Online is announcements for their various titles. While nothing is confirmed to be at the event right now, there are a few things we can assume. One such announcement will likely be a new World of Warcraft expansion. Shadowlands is set to release in October, so it would only make sense. There may also be news on Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4, but take that with a grain of salt. As for other IPs, we’ll have to wait and see what BlizzCon Online has in store.
