Fans hoping to hear more news about Overwatch 2 or other exciting projects from Blizzard may have to wait until later this year. Blizzard has officially announced that its convention Blizzcon has been cancelled for 2020.

Saralyn Smith announced the official cancellation in a blog post earlier today:

With that being said, Smith promised that Blizzard is actively exploring ways ” to channel the BlizzCon spirit and connect with you in some way online”. Following the trend of other big gaming events affected by COVID-19, Blizzard is trying to put together a virtual conference scheduled for early 2021. But, Blizzard has promised to keep fans updated on news of the conference as it develops.

Blizzcon is the most recent convention affected by the global pandemic, but Summer Game Fest is here to keep us up-to-date on the development side of things. With a few events starting this week, the gaming fest is set to really begin in June and will continue through August. If you’re interested in the full schedule, it can be found here! We’ll just have to wait and see if someone else will shed some light on Overwatch 2 and other projects.
