The latest BlizzCon has been a quite divisive moment for the Blizzard community, as the developer has shared the news of a new Diablo game which is not coming to PC nor consoles.
Diablo Immortal has been seen as a sort of betrayal of the core userbase that has allowed Blizzard to become so successful over the years.
This isn’t apparently preventing the studio from producing more and more efforts in the mobile space, though.
Indeed, the dev team is working on other titles for smartphones and tablets based on its most popular intellectual properties.
“In terms of Blizzard’s approach to mobile gaming, many of us over the last few years have shifted from playing primarily desktop to playing many hours on mobile, and we have many of our best developers now working on new mobile titles across all of our IPs,” said executive producer Allen Adham.
“Some of them are with external partners, like Diablo Immortal; many of them are being developed internally only, and we’ll have information to share on those in the future.
I will say also that we have more new products in development today at Blizzard than we’ve ever had in our history and our future is very bright.”
Perhaps not what you wanted to hear, but that’s the reality and it’s coming really in line with the rumor spread by Kotaku over the last few weeks.
