Overwatch has gotten its latest content update in the form of a new map. ‘Paris’ is the new assault 2CP map based in France’s capital city.

Paris shows promise to be a fantastic new addition to arguably Overwatch’s most tedious game mode. Assault maps have been widely criticized for not being suitable for non-team competitive play but the wide, high flank potential design of Paris could help counter this.

Whilst it’s too early to say what will be meta on Paris, early signs suggest it could be a very strong sniper map. Sightlines are excellent and the area leading up to point B’s choke is possibly the largest open area in the entire game. There’s also some very strong rollout potential for high mobility heroes such as Lucio and Hammond so expect them to be good picks here too.

And before we move on how could I forget to mention the fully functioning piano that features on the new Paris map. Many have already found huge meme potential for playing classics like Undertale’s “Megalovania“, Smashmouth’s “All Star“ and, of course, the masterpiece that is “No Mercy” by The Living Tombstone.

Paris is currently available on PTR only but should make its way onto the main game within the next two weeks.

The other major announcement Blizzard made was improvements to the existing Overwatch League Twitch All-Access Pass. For a one-time purchase of $14.99, you can get access to the new Command Center. This is an all-access streaming service that lets you view Overwatch League games from any perspective you desire.

This means you are no longer tied to watching just the perspective presented in the official Twitch stream. Instead, you can follow your favorite players throughout the rounds to see how they get value out of their role. This is a huge plus for those looking to improve their own gameplay by watching the very best play at the highest level.

Outside of this, you also get access to 200 Overwatch League Tokens (allowing you to buy two Overwatch League skins in-game), 20% off one order of Overwatch League merchandise, ad-free Twitch viewing of games (with the slight catch that the League has hard integrated advertising regardless), access to a pass only chat, behind the scenes content for teams, Twitch emotes and badges as well as some in-game content like skins and emotes.

Whilst last year I was skeptical about the value of this deal, 2019’s All-Access Pass seems considerably better. I intend to pick this up soon for the Command Center alone. A worthwhile pick up for anyone interested in either Overwatch or the Overwatch League.
