I, myself, have been looking for more variety in co-op games lately. My friends and I have gone through all the major ones, and are looking for something to freshen that up. Thankfully, it looks like Devolver Digital has answered our prayers (and no better team to do so). Along with developer Ronimo Games, the team has announced Blightbound, a co-op dungeon crawler. The game will release on Steam Early Access at some point this year and is looking awesome so far. You can find the trailer for the game below.

Famed warriors once slaughtered the Shadow Titan, following a long struggle against the beast. The people celebrated, but that celebration was short-lived when its body released the Blight. This evil spread across the land, with its minions slaughtering everything in its path. Few escaped and now seek refuge in a mountain. You’re one of those people, a hero that must venture back into the Blight and slaughter it at its source. If you don’t your entire race will be doomed to extinction. Will you take down these abominations, or will you simply be bound to the Blight.

Blightbound all in all provides a fun if a little gross, co-op experience for you and your friends. You’ll venture through tons of dungeons, slaughtering monsters in your way and collecting new heroes to fight for you. Slowly you’ll build up your mountain refuge and push back the Blight, while also getting new allies to work with. There’s a lot of progression and solid combat in Blightbound, which should make the game highly replayable and a boatload of fun. If all of this sounds enticing to you, you can jump in starting later this year when the game comes to Early Access.

The developers promise that free updates will release for the game through its Early Access period and beyond. If you’re a console player and are slightly disappointed, no need to worry. Chances are, given the type of game, you’ll get your chance soon enough. For PC players though, you can wishlist the game on its official Steam page. Will you be trying Blightbound on its release?
