Alongside many game announcements and trailers at Gamescom 2021, there are quite a few indie games making highlights. For Blasphemous developers, The Game Kitchen, there has been quite a lot of hype going into the event. After releasing Blasphemous in 2019 to much Metroidvania praise, the game is an homage to much of its genres’ namesake. Receiving A Stir of Dawn DLC just a year after release, The Game Kitchen has been working on much more. After many teases and speculation on what’s next, it seems that Blasphemous is getting more content. With fans having already expected a sequel announcement soon, it seems that Blasphemous content isn’t done quite yet. At Gamescom 2021, a new DLC titled Blasphemous: Wounds of Eventide was announced to launch this year.

What Does the Blasphemous: Wounds of Eventide Trailer Reveal?

While the details surrounding what the new expansion will hold are sparse, the animated trailer certainly reveals the weight of this final chapter. With Blasphemous‘ story having unfolded with more DLC, the final expansion will surely add to it much more. With the release of a sequel title coming in 2023, Blasphemous: Wounds of Eventide is a perfect time to sow the seeds for Blasphemous 2. Despite being a few months away, the DLC will be free to all current owners of Blasphemous. Allowing players to access a secret true ending, the DLC expansion is sure to tide over fans until the sequel. As Gamescom 2021 will build plenty of hype, announcing a sequel a few years away now is a smart idea.
