Developer Black Tabby Games are gathering their goods and ideas for their next game, Slay the Princess. It’s a Lovecraftian-inspired comedy-horror tale, and it’s where…well, you might have to slay a certain princess. Of course, it’s not as straightforward as one would possibly assume. It’s a choice-driven experience that shifts according to whatever decisions you make. And you’re expected to die a lot in this game. The Steam demo for Slay the Princess will bleed onto the website this August 1, 2022.

Save or Slay the Princess…It’s Your Call

The best way to describe this upcoming title is that it’s pretty peculiar. It’s inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft, as slightly aforementioned, but time loops play a significant role in Slay the Princess. Hidden deep within the woods, inside a lonesome cabin, awaits an enchained princess. As detailed in the official trailer for the game, the narrator tells us to “slay” her. To our surprise (and hers), we’re mildly taken aback. This is until we’re told that if she lives, the end of the world will be brought upon us.

But she looks innocent enough, right? That might not be the case. Every time you die in Slay the Princess, time seems to ultimately shift in one way or another. This includes the cabin changing in a different way; our Princess might act strangely; the voices in your head are probably not the same. Yet overall, the narrator knows what’s going on. Can we trust the Princess? And especially so, can we trust the narrator?

You be the judge of that with the trailer for Slay the Princess that we’ve attached here. Remember, it is a tragedy mixed with comedy, so you can rightfully anticipate some horrific results.
