Comic Book Resources had an exclusive look at the new Wakandan hero Tosin Oduye. However, this isn’t Tosin’s debut. He first appeared in a backup story in Black Panther #3, the character’s 200th issue.  In the giant-sized issue, Tosin shared his beliefs about Wakanda. He’s quite skeptical about the people in charge of his home country, and he makes this known in his debut appearance. His appearance there took place slightly ahead of the current Black Panther story and hints at a coming civil war.

Who Is Tosin Oduye, The New Wakandan Hero Character?

Tosin Oduye is a young Wakandan with vibranium tattoos that grant him powers. A technique the people of his tribe learned generations ago. The region of Wakanda that Tosin comes from doesn’t embrace technology the same way the rest of the nation does. These Wakandans believe bending vibranium to serve them with technology corrupts. Because of this, Tosin believes Wakanda socially isolates itself from the rest of the world despite transforming into a democracy from a monarchy. He cites their greed with vibranium and the wars he’s seen as evidence. He doesn’t trust the people in charge are making decisions for the good of the country and are instead corrupt.

Who Are The Hatut Zeraze In Black Panther?

Once the secret police of Wakanda was formed by King T’Chaka, the Hatut Zeraze are now mercenaries. They were merciless warriors responsible for capturing, interrogating, and even torturing anyone that posed a threat to the great nation. T’Challa eventually banished them, but they’ve since returned. In the current Black Panther story, tensions are on the rise as previous issues tease a civil war between the Wakanda government and the Hatut Zeraze. In the CBR previews, Tosin and Shuri defend the Prime Minister of Wakanda against the Hatut Zeraze.
