2020 has been a wild and dangerous year. Throughout 2020, we have seen multiple leaks regarding some of the biggest franchises in the video game industry. Call of Duty Black Ops and the Xbox Series S are just the latest video game announcements to get leaked. Despite many suspecting that a digital Xbox Series console would be announced, Microsoft was holding onto the reveal. Sr. Director of Xbox Platform Marketing, Cindy Walker, called the Xbox Series S Leak theft. Before the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal, alpha footage appeared on Reddit.
In the footage, viewers can see alpha testers battling it out on the Miami inspired map. In the video, a new game mode called Vip Mode be seen. The offensive team must escort their VIP to the extraction zone or eliminate all enemies to win the round. The defending team can win by executing the VIP. This leaked footage revealed a decent amount of information about Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War before the multiplayer reveal. The alpha footage revealed more about how the game plays than Activision’s Cold War multiplayer reveal.
The Multiplayer Reveal
In the official trailer, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer trailer, gamers can see a variety of weapons, terrain types, vehicles, killstreaks, and combat styles. Some of the featured guns in the trailer are the SPAS-12, Colt M1911, M16, Gatling Gun, Grenade Launcher, and RPD. At the moment, specialists have not been announced for the Cold War multiplayer. Miami, North Atlantic, Angola, Uzbekistan, and the Ural Mountains have been announced as Cold War multiplayer terrains. Some notable vehicles in the trailer are jet skis, helicopter, snowmobile, a tank, dirt bikes, and dune buggies. These vehicles appear to be played on larger maps. These larger maps will allow players to fight via Land, Sea, and Air.
Starting on October 8th, PlayStation 4 members who preorder Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will have early access to the Cold War multiplayer. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, PlayStation 4 & 5, and PC on November 13th.
