Activision and Treyarch have confirmed the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Revolution DLC today with a video preview for the upcoming content. As expected, the first bout of content will include four new multiplayer maps, a new map for the zombies mode, a new zombies game mode, and a downloadable weapon called the PeaceKeeper SMG.
Multiplayer
Hydro – A large hydro-electric dam facility set in Pakistan. Dan Bunting explains the map as one that is focused on bottlenecks and choke points, with a twist. The map features a major spillway that gives the map a dynamic element when the map floods with water.
Grind – Takes place in a skate park in the middle of Venice, CA. Comprised of half-pipes and skate ramps, Grind’s unique feature is that it is entirely made up of curves. The developers believe that this curved environment will force players away from traditional hiding spots as they offer less security.
Downhill – Brings back snow environments for the first time in Black Ops 2. Based in the French Alps on a ski resort and lodge, and features long lines of sight. Also features a dynamic element with a constantly moving set of gondolas that can kill players if not careful.
Mirage – Based in the Gobi Desert in China, this map is basically a luxury resort that’s been windswept by a sandstorm. Said to offer the most diversity of any of the four maps.
Zombies
Die Rise – This new zombies map takes place in the Far East in a series of crumbling skyscrapers. Being set in a skyscraper, developers are introducing the element of verticality for the first time in a zombies mode map. Die Rise features a combination of very narrow dark corridors and open areas, making it very much like a maze.
Turned – This new mode let players play as a zombie. Much like an “Infected Mode” players will try to take down the one lone human player. If successful, you respawn as the human player and try to defend yourself.
Weapon
The Peacekeeper SMG is a hybrid between an SMG and Assault weapon, little known about the new gun.
This first map pack is scheduled to arrive first on Xbox Live later this month, followed by releases on the PlayStation 3 and PC the following month.
