A little while ago, we covered the fact that Black Mesa‘s Xen full release was being teased. This turned out to be just the beta version of the remaining game, with still many bugs to iron out. Today though, that has changed. We’re happy to announce that as of tonight, Black Mesa‘s full Xen update is now available for all players! This news is huge for fans of the game, as they’ve been waiting many years for the update’s release.

Announced on their official Steam page, the game is (for the most part) complete with all content available. This content has been polished and tested over the past few weeks by members of the community, with tons of bugs fixed. You’re also able to purchase the game 20% off, making this the best time to try it!

This version of the game will be 0.9 instead of the expected 1.0, mainly due to the work that still needs to be done. All of the content the team wants is in the game, but they want to ensure it’s all high quality. With that in mind, they will be looking for player feedback and viewing the game as a whole to see what can be improved and changed. This will go into the next update and will take the game out of early access. Other than that, there will be one more update known as 0.91. This will tackle any bugs now found in the full version, as well as a full achievement list for the Xen levels. If you want to see the full changelog along with roadmap details, you can find those here.

Now is a better time than ever to get into Black Mesa Xen. You hopefully will enjoy the full version they’ve crafted, as it’s the best Half-Life 1 recreation out there. For those who haven’t played Black Mesa, the game is a first-person shooter developed by the Crowbar Collective. The game is a faithful remake of Valve’s Half-Life 1, which adds more content and polishes what was already there. With the Xen levels now a part of the game, Half-Life 1 has been entirely remade, and we can’t recommend it more. You can purchase it on PC through Steam for $15 until January 2nd ($17 afterward)!

This isn’t all for Half-Life news recently. There was also the news of Half-Life Alyx just last month, which has VR users very excited. Are you going to play through Black Mesa‘s Xen chapter?
