CW is reportedly adding another major hero for their upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” mega-crossover. According to FandomWire, Black Lightning will make an appearance during this event. A source told FandomWire that Black Lightning’s role in the crossover would be more in line with how Batwoman was presented in 2018’s “Elseworlds”.

Cress Williams, who plays Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, confirmed this news on Instagram earlier today:

It’ll be interesting to see how the Arrowverse introduces this character into the crossover. For the most part, Black Lightning has been on a smaller scale, dealing with more personal issues compared to multiverse ending events. Not only that but the series has strayed away from making any definitive connections with the other Arrowverse shows. That’s why having the character appear in a role akin to Batwoman’s during “Elseworlds” makes a lot of sense. However, it is important to note that although Cress Williams has confirmed the validity of this report, CW has yet to confirm it themselves.

If the report is indeed true and Black Lightning finally joins the Arrowverse, he won’t be alone. Burt Ward, who played Robin in the 1960s Batman series and movie, will have a part to play in “Crisis on Infinite Earths”. Brandon Routh, who is already established in the Arrowverse as Ray Palmer/The Atom, will be playing two roles during the events of the crossover. Not only will he play Ray Palmer but he is set to once again don a cape as Superman during the event. Both he and Tyler Hoechlin will portray DC’s resident boy scout at different points in the crossover.

Black Lightning returns this October and it looks like the 5-hour long “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will premiere sometime in December.
