“It will be shipped in the last quarter of the year and in the last month of the quarter.”

Bioware’s highly-anticipated “science-fantasy title,” Anthem, looks like it finally has a definitive release window: March 2019.

The news was revealed by Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen during the midst of a financial conference call for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018, which, among other things, covered topics such as Anthem and the upcoming Battlefield.

We’ve traveled a long road to reach this point. EA has only offered an approximate release window until now, but thanks to Jorgensen stating Anthem would be shipped in the last month of the quarter, it looks like the publisher is finally getting ready to put its newest IP on the market. Here is what it had to say about it during the conference call:

“Every dimension of this game will offer something entirely new for our audience of players, from a new universe with unique stories that BioWare is creating, to the cooperative gameplay, to the epic and beautiful environment that constantly evolves around the players.

“Anthem is a fundamentally social experience and will open new ways for fans to join the community and play early, enabling us to shape and refine the game with their input and feedback. We’re deeply excited to launch this brand new franchise and equally excited to work with our players to make Anthem a game they can’t wait to play and share with their friends for years to come.”

However, as much as EA is excited about the new title, it is also admittedly conservative about it — something that it has all right to be.

Last year was not kind to EA and with no new Dragon Age in sight, the publisher is looking more like a sports game publisher than anything else. As you might recall, the company landed itself in serious hot water late last year following the debacle concerning loot boxes and gambling in Star Wars Battlefront II, and before that, Mass Effect Andromeda was received so poorly that the DLC was cancelled and BioWare was forced to redouble its efforts in order to ensure Anthem didn’t go down in flames.

From what we’ve seen so far, it at least looks like it won’t, but we’ll have to wait until next year to be certain. Before then, expect to see more at E3 2018.

Anthem is due out early 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
