Don’t expect them for a while, though.

Lately, BioWare has been all about their upcoming new IP Anthem. So it’s no surprise that in the company’s recent mid-summer update, a large portion of the post was spent discussing the sci-fi action-RPG, including its E3 and Comic-Con appearances. However, the developer knew better than to just ignore the fanbases of their other series, so they made sure to address those as well.

After discussing Anthem at length, Mass Effect trilogy director Casey Hudson moved on to other topics. One of the most interesting sections of the post-Anthem part of the update reads, “And yes – we hear loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll really like – we’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while…” So there you have it. While the specific wording may prevent this as constituting an official announcement of new Dragon Age and Mass Effect games, there’s no reason to mention “teams hidden away working on some secret stuff” immediately after bringing up the two popular franchises unless there are new entries in the works for both.

That being said, fans shouldn’t expect anything for a while. BioWare seems to be focusing on Anthem pretty heavily right now, and fans of both Dragon Age and Mass Effect know how big those games can be, so we likely won’t be getting those new entries any time soon. But at least now Mass Effect fans can rest assured that Andromeda‘s lackluster performance didn’t kill the series, as some had feared.
