Today, Billy Eichner announced that his new film Bros will be the first studio film to feature an all-LGBTQ+ cast. Before this news, the LGBTQ+ Rom-Com already made history. It is the first studio comedy with an openly gay man both writing and starring in it. Eichner co-wrote the film with Nicholas Stoller, who will also direct it. Stoller previously worked with Eichner on the Netflix series Friends From College.

The plot of Billy Eichner’s Bros will focus on a gay relationship between two men who have commitment issues. Judd Apatow will produce the LGBTQ+ Rom-Com. Apatow previously directed films like King of Staten Island and Trainwreck. Billy Eichner is famous for his role on Parks and Recreation as the bombastic Craig Middlebrooks, and his man-on-the-street show Billy on the Street. The actor also recently starred in the 2019 Lion King remake.

The film will also star Luke Macfarlane, TS Madison, Miss Lawrence, Symone, Guillermo Diaz, and Guy Branum. This will be TS Madison’s third film. Earlier this summer, she appeared in the A24 film, Zola. Billy Eichner’s Bros will release on Aug. 12, 2022, with Universal Pictures set to distribute.
