Billie Lourd has taken to Instagram to honor her grandmother, the legendary actor Debbie Reynolds. It has been five years since the world lost Debbie Reynolds, known for her works in Singin’ in the Rain, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Tammy and the Bachelor, and everyone’s personal favorite Halloweentown.

Billie Lourd took to Instagram to post a picture of her with her mother, Carrie Fisher(aka Princess Leia), and grandmother Debbie Reynolds, whom Lourd calls her Abadaba.

Lourd comes from a legendary line of women in the Hollywood industry. Debbie Reynolds made her way into America’s heart dancing in Singin’ in the Rain and singing the iconic classic song, “Tammy”.

Billie Lourd’s mother, however, needs no introduction. Carrie Fisher was known for her roles in Shampoo and When Harry Met Sally. But Carrie Fisher was best known to the world as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise. Debbie Reynolds died of a broken heart due to losing her only daughter, Carrie Fisher, the day before.

The two women (Fisher and Reynolds) were extremely close. Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher would go on to make the TV movie These Old Broads, starring Reynolds and written by Fisher. The two would also go on to make a documentary about their relationship called Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, which was released after their deaths. Eventually, the two would die one day apart from each other.

Billie Lourd lost her mother and grandmother in the same year. Grief is not easy.  “People always ask me what stage of grief I’m in. And my answer is never simple. I’m in a different stage of grief in each moment of every day”. Lourd mentions in an Instagram post.

Like grandmother, like mother, like daughter, Billie Lourd has gone on to be an actor herself. Lourd stars in the recent trilogy of the Star Wars franchise in the small role of Lieutenant Connix, Booksmart, and has appeared in the recent seasons of the television show American Horror Story.

Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds is streaming on HBO Max now.
