Bill Skarsgard has joined the reboot of The Crow, the 1994 cult classic supernatural thriller that starred the late Brandon Lee. Collider reports that 31-year-old Skarsgard will take the lead role of Eric Draven/The Crow, a musician who comes back from the dead seeking vengeance on those who murdered him and his fiance. Plans for a reboot of The Crow have been in development since 2008. Actors such as Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, and Jason Momoa have all planned to take the lead role before leaving the project. Time will tell if this latest development avoids the same fate.

A Reboot of Cult Classic The Crow

The Crow was released in 1994, receiving positive reviews and strong box office success. The film’s success led to three sequels and a TV series. However, it is also a film marked by infamy and tragedy, as actor Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee) was fatally wounded on set due to the misfiring of a prop gun. This avoidable tragedy was recently brought back to memory by Alec Baldwin’s accidental fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust. Only this incident, which occurred 28 years after Lee’s death, has led Hollywood to consider tighter restrictions and even the banning of onset firearms.

Bill Skarsgard’s History of Dark Characters

Bill Skarsgard is the perfect person to take on Eric Draven’s goth appearance of white makeup and dark clothing. He is known for portraying darker characters, such as the villain Kro in Marvel’s Eternals and Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the It reboot films from 2017 and 2019. He is reprising the latter role in an It prequel series for HBO Max.
