Beyonce’s latest concert in Dubai has stirred outrage among fans who have since labeled her a sellout for performing in a country with strict anti-LGBTQ+ laws. However, her dad has since stepped up in her defense, letting the world know they had the wrong perception of the groundbreaking concert. Matthew Knowles, Beyonce’s dad, believes rather than viewing the concert as an avenue to foster hate, the world needed to understand the part it played in bringing people together by uniting a diverse crowd.

Speaking to TMZ, Matthew pointed out that his daughter had the incredible power of uniting people from different walks of life, something only a few could boast of. Tapping into that super abilities, the songstress made her way to Dubai and did what she does best.

Beyonce’s Dubai Concert Represented More than A Stage Performance

Explaining further, Beyonce’s dad noted that while those who did not attend the concert may not understand its significance, his daughter did something extraordinary in Dubai. According to him, the Halo crooner gave respect and received respect from the country in return, which he deemed an amazing moment.

Addressing fans’ outrage, especially those who felt shunned by her performance, Matthew reiterated that his daughter stood for inclusiveness. He added that the 41-year-old believed everyone was there for love, and she would never do anything to hurt someone deliberately.

Beyonce’s Dubai concert would mark her return to the stage for a live performance for the first time in five years. The event, held in the tourist city marked the grand opening of the luxury hotel, Atlantis The Royal. Aside from the mindblowing performance, glamorous display of colors and dance moves, the star stunned everyone by inviting her daughter, Blue Ivy, on stage with her.

Despite the unforgettable moments, many had words of criticism for the icon, from her choice of songs, to ever accepting the gig, which reportedly earned her $24 million. Most of the backlash she faced came from the LGBTQ+ community, for performing in a country with strict laws against same-sex relationships. Fans also called out the singer for avoiding tracks from her Renaissance album, which honors the black queer culture, a nod at LGBT icons past and present.

Beyonce’s dad had an explanation for his daughter’s failure to include the said tracks in her Dubai concert performance, saying she had an upcoming tour in the works. He urged fans to “hold tight,” as the crooner would announce it once she was ready. Fingers crossed!
