Beyoncé released her seventh studio album, Renaissance, a few months ago. The album is still causing a stir among fans; however, the singer was recently called “arrogant” by the duo Right Said Fred. The pair are upset that Beyoncé interpolated their song I’m Too Sexy on the album. They state that she sampled the song without permission.

However, Beyoncé has now responded to the accusations from Right Said Fred by saying, “Permission was asked of their publisher on 11 May 2022, and the publisher approved the use on 15 June 2022. They were paid for the usage in August 2022.”

In other words, Beyoncé’s team got permission from the entity that owns the publishing rights to the song. Some may think it would be a nice gesture to get permission from the artist. However, it’s not legally required if they don’t own the rights. Fans will remember that before Beyoncé’s Renaissance album came out, the singer Kelis expressed the same sentiments about a song on the album that included a sample of her music.

Right Said Fred has yet to respond to Beyoncé’s statement about having permission to sample their song. However, the duo has recently released an autobiography entitled Still Too Sexy: Surviving Right Said Fred. They also recently won their fourth BMI award due to Drake sampling I’m Too Sexy for one of his songs.

Beyoncé released Renaissance on July 29th of this year. Break My Soul was the lead single from the album. The song ended up becoming the singer’s latest number-one song on the Billboard Top 100 Singles chart. Fans of the singer have been anticipating the release of the music videos for the songs on the album. There are also supposedly two more “acts” to come from Renaissance.

We’re in hopes that Beyoncé and Right Said Fred have an understanding now regarding the inclusion of a section of their song on Renaissance.
