There’s a new rumor going around that Bethesda may be thinking of bringing back the fan-favorite Fallout spin-off title New Vegas. The rumor stems from VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, who claimed on the premium Giantbomb show Grubbsnax that Bethesda is in “very early” talks for a Fallout: New Vegas 2.
According to Grubb, the sequel, if it ever ends up becoming a thing, is still “years and years away.” Grubb adds that a lot of people Microsoft is very interested in making New Vegas 2 happen and that there’s potential in making everything work.
However, what Grubb said should not be taken as official confirmation. Even if true, it is very much possible nothing comes out of these very early talks. Until either Bethesda or Microsoft announced anything concrete, it’s best to take the New Vegas 2 rumor with a pinch of salt.
Fallout: New Vegas is a spin-off title of the main Fallout series, originally released in 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. In contrast to the main titles in the series, New Vegas takes place in the more Western part of the United States, including states like Nevada and California. The country has been ravaged by nuclear fallout, and what once was Las Vegas has turned into New Vegas.
