Bethesda has released a statement regarding the allegations from the composer of the amazing action shooting titles Doom and Doom Eternal, Mick Gordon. Mick Gordon recently detailed his work environment while working on Doom Eternal, saying that Id Software forced him into less-than-ideal working conditions, delayed his pay, and publically maligned him. Bethesda has just responded to said allegations via Twitter.

Bethesda’s explanation regarding the whole debacle has been lacking at best. The company has dismissed all of Mick Gordon’s claims without actually discussing any of the evidence provided by the fan-favorite composer.

Gordon released his statement last week and shared his difficulties while working with Id Software’s studio director Marty Stratton. He delved into the process of creating the fantastic soundtrack from Doom Eternal and the controversies surrounding the physical edition of the soundtrack. Gordon also referred to Stratton’s Reddit post from 2020, which threw all the blame regarding the release of the physical edition onto Mick Gordon. Meanwhile, Gordon had the exact opposite position regarding who was to blame.

Bethesda Responds to Mick Gordon’s Allegations

Bethesda’s response to the whole situation is simply denying all responsibility as well as all of Gordon’s claims. Bethesda claims that Gordon mischaracterized and misrepresented the team at Id Software, Marty Stratton, and Chad Mossholder, with a one-sided account of an “irreparable professional relationship.” The statement goes on to say that Bethesda is aware of the entire situation and claims that Stratton and Id Software are not to blame while implying that Mick Gordon has been disingenuous.

Bethesda does also say that it is ready to share all the evidence and will only do so at “an appropriate venue as needed.” Whereas Gordon has already shared a lot of proof in the form of emails and documentation covering his work on Doom Eternal that supports all of his allegations.

Considering the situation and Bethesda’s position, it makes sense that the company does not wish to divulge any more details than it needs to in case this becomes a serious legal matter. Gordon has not only had negative things to say regarding his experience with Id Software, quite the opposite. He said that the Id Software team deserves to be celebrated. Meanwhile, Stratton’s 2020 Reddit post shows that it was Bethesda who was inciting controversy, not Mick Gordon.
