In a recent interview, Pete Hines, Marketing Vice President at Bethesda has commented the future of the Nintendo Switch support coming from the North American developer and publisher, hinting at that, whenever possible, they’re striving for simultaneous releases with other platforms.

For what matters the upcoming Bethesda releases coming to Switch, Pete Hines said it’ll depend on the opportunities, whether the games in question are going to be a good fit for Nintendo’s audience or not.

“It’ll just depend. It’ll depend on whether or not we think the game is a good fit for the platform technically and whether we think it’s something that audience wants on Switch. In that way, it’s literally no different than any other platform that we look at or any other game that we do,” he said.

“Hopefully, it’ll be a mix of both. If there’s stuff that folks want us to release on Switch and it’s a good fit and it works – great. If it’s new stuff going forward that we think is a good fit and will work on Switch, then we’ll do that too.”

On simultaneous releases, he added he would prefer that, but that thus far that’s not been possible because Skyrim and DOOM launched before Nintendo Switch, and that Wolfenstein II would have required to be pushed back, which was out of the question.

“That’s always our preference but in the case of Skyrim and DOOM, well, that wasn’t possible. In the case of Wolfenstein II, we needed the extra time and there was no way we were going to hold the other platforms to wait for Switch. From my perspective, any time we can bring it out on the Switch at the exact same time as the other platforms for new releases, I don’t know why we wouldn’t.”

Wolfenstein II for Nintendo Switch still hasn’t been attached with a release date, but it’s confirmed to be coming in 2018 and seems to be a great port of the original version, at least from the first few videos popped up on the Internet after the PAX East.
