Bethesda has always been lauded as a studio that produces triple-A experiences over a multitude of series. Even more so, thanks to the purchase by Microsoft, expectations for Bethesda have never been higher. With real incentive for them to be a top performer, many are placing a close eye on Bethesda. While some games like Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo have made their way to Xbox devices, some are still on the horizon. Games scheduled for a release this year, Redfall and Starfield, are two of the most anticipated titles out of Xbox Game Studios. Both published and even developed by Bethesda, these games are the triple-A lineup many were expecting to see by the end of the year. Yet, the past two years have been amidst tumultuous development cycles. Delays will inevitably happen more and more frequently. Announced today in a Twitter statement, Microsoft’s Bethesda discussed how Redfall and Starfield will be delayed until early 2023.

When Will Bethesda’s Starfield and Redfall Release Now?

A delay can often signify more work and time going into a product for a complete release. Starfield has been in development for a few years, showcasing the announcement trailer in 2018. Redfall first debuted to the public at E3 2021 as the final game of the first Xbox Bethesda showcase. As both games release the following year, there is a clear expectation for Bethesda’s game studios. Yet, it seems that the running trend in Microsoft studios has unfortunately extended to Bethesda’s studios. Despite the delay being 6-10 months at worst, Redfall and Starfield may be better off with the extra time. Either way, both games will eventually see release in the first six months of 2023 in whichever order Bethesda deems best.
