With the past several expansions in Destiny 2, Bungie has hidden away new Exotic armor pieces behind Legendary Lost Sectors. Here’s what you need to know about how to farm Exotic gear from these Legendary Lost Sectors.

Exotic Armor Farming in Destiny 2, explained

The best and only way to farm Exotics in Destiny 2 is to do the daily Legendary Lost Sector. These rotate on a daily basis and offer a chance at receiving Exotic gear if completed solo. There is a slight chance of receiving the Exotic on Legendary, but the chance goes up for completing the Lost Sector on Master.

For example, today’s Legendary Lost Sector is Extraction on Savathun’s Throne World. It is dropping Exotic helmets. There are several modifiers that must be accounted for if one is to complete this solo. These will change with each Lost Sector and can be checked before loading in. The modifiers for Extraction are:

  • Arc and Void shieldsChampions: Overload and UnstoppableLimited revivesEquipment lockedMatch gameRaider shieldArc burn

It’s no small feat to take down a Legendary Lost Sector. But these challenges make Guardians think outside of the box and craft builds they otherwise wouldn’t. The drop rate for the Exotics can be low, but completing the Lost Sector should never take more than five to 10 minutes, which is relatively fast. This allows for quick farming runs, especially once players get used to how and where enemies spawn. Many third-party sites will allow Guardians to quickly identify the Legendary Lost Sector, but taking a cursory glance in the Directory will also reveal the same information.
