For the Season of Legends in Pokémon Go, Zekstrika is the first rank reward that every player receives. Because it’ll be available for every player who captures it, is it a worthwhile Pokémon to use in the game, and if so, what’s the best moveset?

If you plan to use Zebstrika, we highly recommend you stick it in the Great League. It has a higher CP than that, but it doesn’t stack up too well against the other Pokémon. It’s an Electric-type, making it only weak to Ground-type Pokémon. It’s resistant to Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks. Overall, it’s an okay choice, but it really matters what team you pair it with when battling against others.

These are all of the moves Zebstrika can learn.

Fast moves

  • Low Kick (Fighting-type) – 4 damage and 2.5 energy (2 damage per turn)Spark (Electric-type) – 4 damage and 4 energy (2 damage per turn)

Charged moves

  • Discharge (Electric-type) – 65 damage and 45 energyFlame Charge (Fire-type) – 65 damage and 50 energy (100% chance to increase user’s attack power by one rank)Wild Charge (Electric-type) – 100 damage and 45 energy (100% chance to lower user’s defense by two ranks)

For Zekstrika’s fast move, you don’t have to think about it too much. You never want to use low kick, as often as you can avoid it. We highly recommend you use a Zekstrika that knows spark. It generates nearly twice the amount of energy, ensuring it can use its charged moves far more often.

Next, you have some choices to make for its charged moves. You can pick two. You want to go with wild charge of the trio. Wild charge is available at a much lower rate, and it does a monstrous amount of damage. The downside is the effects of the attack, and it lowers Zebstrika’s defenses. But for the Great League, that’s not a huge problem.

The big deciding factor is if you go with flame charge or discharge. While your instinct might be to go with discharge because it’s an Electric-type move, and Zebstrika receives as same-attack-type-bonus from the move, flame charge is the better option. Flame charge increases Zebstrika’s overall move type coverage in a fight, plus every time you use the move, it increases the Pokémon’s attack by a rank. That’s a worthwhile exchange and can be helpful in the Great League.

Zebstrika is not a huge Pokémon to modify the Pokémon Go Great League meta. It’s not shooting the top, and it’s not going to be the biggest threat in a fight. But if you’re smart about it, you can use it to win strategic fights. The best moveset Zebstrika can learn consists of its fast move spark and the charged moves flame charge and wild charge.
