A Pokémon that changes alongside the seasons in Pokémon Go is Sawsbuck. It was first released during the Autumn 2020 event, and you could capture its starter form, Deerling. It has four different appearances, for each of the unique seasons, so you will likely encounter one with an exclusive look during winter, and then encounter another in the summer. Despite the appearance changes, it still knows all of the same moves. What’s the best moveset it can use?

Sawsbuck is a Normal and Grass-type Pokémon. It has a maximum CP of 2,416, an attack of 198, a defense of 146, and stamina of 190. It’s weak to Bug, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-type Pokémon, but it’s resistant to Ghost, Electric, Grass, Ground, and Water-type attacks. While it has various weaknesses, it could prove useful for specialized raids you participate in with other trainers.

Here are all of the moves Sawsbuck can learn in Pokémon Go.

Fast moves

  • Feint Attack (Dark-type) – 6 damage, 3 energy per turnTake Down (Normal-type) – 5 damage, 2.6 energy per turn

Charged moves

  • Hyper Beam (Normal-type) – 150 damage, 80 energyMegahorn (Bug-type) – 100 damage, 55 energySolar Beam (Grass-type) – 150 damage, 80 energyWild Charge (Electric-type) – 100 damage, 45 energy

The best fast move for Sawsbuck is an odd choice, feint attack. It’s a Dark-type move, but it’s a reliable option to use in battle. It makes Sawsbuck a decent chance to take down Ghost and Psychic-types, and it is already resistant to Ghost-types, making it a suitable option to battle them even more.

For its charged move, most would automatically choose hyper beam or solar beam. Despite the overall damage, these two moves dish out, the other two options are far better. Megahorn, the Bug-type move, can be used more often, making it a more worthwhile choice. Alongside wild charge, which takes even less energy to use for the same amount of damage, it makes Sawsbuck a quick attacker. However, you want to be careful with using wild charge because it lowers your Pokémon’s defenses each time you use it. You’re better off using wild charge as a final attack, and not have it be the first charged attack you use.

With those options in mind, Sawsbuck is a decent choice for the Ultra League. It won’t be at the head of the pack, but it’s a decent option, especially fighting any Ghost-type Pokémon. Make sure it knows feint attack for its fast move, and then megahorn and wild charge for its charged moves, in that order.
