Kyogre is one of the many legendary Pokémon you can utilize in Pokémon Go after capturing it. You can only catch it from completing a five-star raid in the game, and those only appear at limited windows. When you do catch it and find one with a series of stats you like, the next step is to figure out what kind of moveset you want to use on it. Kyogre has several options, but what’s the best choice?

Kyogre is a Water-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Electric and Grass-type attacks, but it’s resistant against Fire, Ice, Steel, and Water-type moves. In PvP, it has a maximum CP of 4,115, an attack of 225, a defense of 192, and stamina of 173. In PvE, it has an attack of 270, a defense of 228, and stamina of 205. You primarily will want to use it in the Master League when you battle other trainers in the Battle League.

These are all of the moves Kyogre can learn.

Fast moves

  • Waterfall (Water-type) – 12 damage and 2.6 energy (4 damage per turn)

Charge moves

  • Blizzard (Ice-type) – 140 damage and 75 energyHydro Pump (Water-type) – 130 damage and 75 energySurf (Water-type) – 65 damage and 40 energyThunder (Electric-type) – 100 damage and 60 energy

Kyogre is pretty easy to figure. It only has one fast move to pick from, waterfall, so you don’t have any too many options. Unfortunately, waterfall does a bit of damage, but it doesn’t have the highest energy generation, making it a bit difficult to use if you want to fully utilize Kyogre’s charge moves.

Speaking of charge moves, you have a handful of options to pick from. THe best choice you always want to get is surf. It’s a decent Water-type attack, and because it doesn’t require too much energy, you can expect to use it fairly often. However, because Kyogre won’t generate too much energy with waterfall, you likely don’t want to use hydro pump. If you want Kyogre to deal heavy damage against other Water or Flying-types, then thunder or blizzard are decent options. More players will likely want to use thunder, though.

Overall, Kyogre is an excellent Pokémon to utilize in the Master League. It can battle against Groudon, Melmetal, Ho-Oh, Mamoswine, Swampert, Garchomp, and several other notable Pokémon plenty of trainers frequently use. Make sure it uses the fast move waterfall and the charge moves surf and thunder or blizzard.
