Jellicent will be an exclusive Pokémon when it initially releases to Pokémon Go. Frillish, it’s first form, will be available to players who reach rank 20 in the Battle League. If you earn at least 50 Frillish candies, you’ll be able to evolve it into Jellicent. With it being a new Pokémon, we’re going to break down its stats to see if it’s a worthy choice and where you can use it in the various Pokémon Go leagues. Jellicent could be a good choice for you to use in PvP.

Jellicent is a Water and Ghost-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Dark, Electric, Ghost, and Grass-type moves, but it’s resistant to Bug, Fighting, Fire, Ice, Normal, Poison, Steel, and Water-type attacks. Those are not the worst weaknesses, and it has several resistances, making it a worthy adversary to try and battle against. It has a maximum CP of 2,338, an attack of 137, a defense of 152, and stamina of 189. Those are not the best stats in the world, but it’s definitely in the Ultra League.

Fast moves

  • Bubble (Water-type) – 7 damage and 3.6 energy (2.6 damage per turn)Hex (Ghost-type) – 6 damage and 4 energy (2 damage per turn)

Charge moves

  • Bubble Beam (Water-type) – 25 damage and 40 energy (there’s a 100% chance to lower the opponent’s attack by one rank)Ice Beam (Ice-type) – 90 damage and 55 energyShadow Ball (Ghost-type) – 100 damage and 55 energy

Jellicent has the chance to be a decent Pokémon, given the various moves it can use. For the fast move, you want to go with bubble. While hex does provide a small edge when it comes to energy, and bubble was nerfed following January 11, the Water-type move is still the better choice over hex.

When we look at the charge moves, Jellicent has some great diversity. While bubble beam has the lowest required energy output of all the choices, it doesn’t do enough damage. It only does 25, which is about a fourth of what ice beam and shadow ball can do. Those two are far better choices, giving Jellicent the chance to take out Pokémon, such as Cresselia, Registeel, Articuno, Regirock, Mewtwo (Armored), and Machamp.

Overall, Jellicent is not the most powerful Pokémon in the Ultra League. However, it’s great at taking down specific Pokémon that are regular fighters in this league, and being able to toss it against them would give you an excellent line-up. Make sure Jellicent knows bubble for its fast move, and then ice beam and shadow ball for its charge moves.
