Ho-Oh is a legendary Pokémon that you can potentially capture in Pokémon Go. While it is only available during limited times in the game, it’s a powerful Pokémon that you can use in combat against other trainers. You likely won’t be using it in the Great League, but it can prove exceptionally useful in the Ultra and Master Leagues. To truly excel with this Pokémon, you want to use the best moves Ho-Oh can learn, and we’ve listed them out for you and why they’re the best.

Ho-Oh is a Fire and Flying-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Electric, Rock, and Water-type moves. But it’s resistant to Bug, Fairy, Fighting, Fire, Grass, Ground, and Steel-type attacks. It has a maximum CP of 3,863, an attack of 200, a defense of 204, and a stamina of 180. It’s a powerful Pokémon both in terms of attack and defense, so it can dish out plenty of damage and take quite a bit.

These are all of the moves Ho-Oh can learn.

Fast Moves

  • Extrasensory (Psychic-type) – 8 damage and 3.3 energy (2.6 damage per turn)Hidden Power (All Types) – 9 damage and 2.6 energy (3 damage per turn)Incinerate (Fire-type) – 15 damage and 4 energy (3 damage per turn)Steel-wing (Steel-type) – 7 damage and 2.5 energy (3.5 damage per turn)

Charge Moves

  • Brave Bird (Flying-type) – 130 damage and 55 energy (100% chance to lower the user’s defenses by there ranks) Earthquake (Ground-type) – 120 damage and 65 energyFire Blast (Fire-type) – 140 damage and 80 energySolar Beam (Grass-type) – 150 damage and 80 energy

Ho-Oh has several choices when it comes to fast and charge moves. When it comes to fast moves, though, you always want to go with incinerate. It’s the newer move on Ho-Oh’s list, and it’s not only potent, but it provides the most energy. That means you’ll be able to use your charge moves, and Ho-Oh has some fairly heavy energy requirements. So make sure you prioritize incinerate every time.

Ho-Oh has plenty of choices for charge moves, but of the options, you want to do away with fire blast and solar beam. While they do a large amount of damage, they both require 80 energy, and that’s nearly twice as much energy brave bird needs, even if brave bird does lower Ho-Oh’s defenses every time you use it. Regardless, throw those out, and make sure not to use them. You won’t be winning battles against any Ultra or Master League teams with those in Ho-Oh’s moveset. You want to grab brave bird and earthquake. Both of those do plenty of damage, and they don’t require too much energy.

Overall, Ho-Oh is a great choice for a team member in the Ultra League, but it truly excels in the Master League. You want to add them to your roster if you can, especially when competing in the highest league in Pokémon Go. Make sure it learns incinerate for its fast move, and brave bird and earthquake for its charge moves.
