In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, moves determine your Pokémon’s potential in battle. Pokémon will naturally learn more powerful ones as it levels up, but you can also visit Zisu in Jubilife Village to have it learn others for a price. This is true for every Pokémon in the game, including Rotom—the Electric Pokémon that loves overshadowing appliances.

Rotom is a Pokémon with high Sp. Attack. This means that it’s better off with special attacks than physical ones. It has five forms, Rotom Heat, Rotom Wash, Rotom Frost, Rotom Fan, and Mow Rotom, which all have the same stats, just different typings. This means that the best moveset for each of them are going to look alike.

Best moves for Rotom Heat

  • Thunder Wave (learned at level 18)Shadow Ball (learned at level 25)Thunderbolt (learned at level 34)Overheat (automatically learned when form is changed)

Best moves for Rotom Wash

  • Thunder Wave (learned at level 18)Shadow Ball (learned at level 25)Thunderbolt (learned at level 34)Hydro Pump (automatically learned when form is changed)

Best moves for Rotom Fan

Best moves for Mow Rotom

Moves that are used by Pokémon of the same type have their base damage increased by 50%. We call this same-type attack bonus (STAB). Thunderbolt and the move your Rotom learns when it changes forms are going to be its STAB moves.

Shadow Ball is just there for more coverage. It’s a powerful Ghost-type move and is super effective against Psychic and Ghost Pokémon, which are abundant during the night. Thunder Wave is there to inflict paralysis, which makes wild Pokémon easier to catch.
