Greybor is a beefy neutral Slayer from the start with a powerful attack bonus as soon as he joins the player. Since he already starts off with such great stats, he could make a great option for several different build types. However, players should use something that will work within their own party dynamic that doesn’t take away from what he already offers.

Greybor Starting Stats

Starting out Greybor is a Slayer. This class is wholly focused on hunting and the chase, mixing the feeling of a shadowy Ranger or Assassin with a true and tried Fighter. His top stats are Strength and Dexterity.

Greybor’s Starting Feats

  • Two Weapon Fighting - Wielding a second weapon in his off hand, will get him one extra attack per round with that weapon. He suffers a –6 penalty with his regular attack or attacks with his primary hand and a –10 penalty to the attack with his off hand. If his off-hand weapon is light, the penalties are reduced by 2 each.Weapon Focus - He gains a +1 bonus on all attack rolls made using the selected weapon.Hammer the Gap - He repeatedly strikes the same location, causing increasing amounts of damage with each repeated hit.

Combined, this lowers his base attack bonus to something more standard to most characters in exchange for intense amounts of damage. His initial build also allows him to take seven attacks per turn, granting him a great chance at defeating several foes within each turn. With these things in mind, players should think about their current playstyle within their party. Based on everything, the base he has could work well for just about any team with any alignment and end goal.

What Archetype to specialize Greybor into

Due to his base working well for just about any playthrough, the only choices needed to take him to the next level are picking an archetype and future stat and feat choices. The archetype will mainly be based on whether players are planning on committing to an Evil or Good playthrough. There are a total of six archetypes within the Slayer class that Greybor would qualify for.

These are the Arcane Enforcer, Deliverer, Executioner, Spawn Slayer, Stygian Slayer, and Vanguard. Some have more obvious implications than others. Arcane Enforcers gain access to spells as well as Arcanist and Wizard abilities. Deliverers gain the service of a deity and general clerical abilities. Spawn Slayers study several different types of enemies to gain extra bonuses against those enemies. Stygian Slayers gain invisibility and Misty Form. Lastly, the Executioner gains extra damage with their sneak attacks. All of the specializations add a good amount to the player, however, the top options for Greybor are Deliverer, Spawn Slayer, and Stygian Slayer.

For a good run, the Deliverer is one of the best options as it will keep demons from affecting Greybor and will grant him more deity protections. For an evil run, the Spawn and Stygian Slayer offer great options. Stygian is strategically more attractive though as Greybor will be able to jump across the battlefield and disappear in the tensest moments. We’ll go over what each of these will add.
