The end of 2021 is nigh, and the start of 2022 is upon us in days. To be honest, 2021 was not the best year for gamers. There were tons of console shortages in the stores, not to mention the lack of top-notch quality games. But it seems 2022 will make it up for 2021 with tons of great gaming to next-gen consoles and PC. Here are the best games that will be released in January 2022.
2022 Best Year for Gamers? Most Probably
Before talking about the best games that will be released in January, let’s see what games will be released in 2022. The most anticipated game of 2022 for most gamers is Elding Ring, the newest IP of FromSoftware. The next big game is Starfield, the latest RPG game of Bethesda, if it doesn’t see any delays. The other big game that might have a change of schedule in months is God of War: Ragnarok. I’m just mentioning the biggest of the biggest because there are tons of games that will probably be a blast. Until the release of those games, let’s look at what to expect from the first month of 2022.
Demon Gaze Extra (PS4/Nintendo Switch) – January 6
Demon Gaze Extra is the enhanced edition of Demon Game: Global Edition that will come to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Set in The World of Mythird, the players will take the role of Oz in this manga-based dungeon crawler. The game was first released for PlayStation Vita in 2014. Demon Gaze Extra was released in September in Japan, and the western release is set for January 6, 2022.
Monster Hunter Rise (PC) – January 12
2022 would be a fantastic year for PC owners since tons of console exclusives will be coming for PC. The first of many is Monster Hunter Rise that was released for Nintendo Switch. This is the sixth installment in the Monster Hunter series after Monster Hunter: World. The game will feature some established features and mechanics from the previous game and add more. It’s a great time to play Monster Hunter Rise since Rise Sunbreak expansion is coming for both platforms in mid-2022.
Astroneer (Nintendo Switch) – January 13
This sandbox adventure game was first released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019 is finally coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console. You will take the role of an astronomer tasked with colonizing planets, collecting resources, and creating structures. The art style of Astronner is well compatible with other games that usually come to Nintendo Switch. If you have a Switch and looking for a relaxing and straightforward video game, don’t forget the get Astroneer when it becomes available on January 13.
God of War (PC) – January 14
The PC version of God of War was something no one anticipated, but life is still surprising. High-End PCs can run the game at 60FPS with 4K resolution. It was a shame some people couldn’t experience 2018’s The Game of Year because it was an exclusive. Even though 3 years have passed, God of War still looks fresh, fun, and engaging. PC owners should not miss this chance of experiencing a legendry Norse adventure with the god killer himself, Kratos in January 2022 releases of games.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction (PC/PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/Stadia) – January 20
Like its predecessor, Rainbow Six Extraction is a tactical shooter multiplayer game that players will fight against aliens. Extraction is a spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft‘s popular tactical shooter. Each match supports up to three players to work cooperatively in achieving the required task that most of the time requires a stealth tactical plan. Some operators from Siege will also come in Extraction.
Windjammers 2 (PC/PS4/Stadia/Switch/Xbox One) – January 20
The sequel to the classic Windjammers is finally coming after 28 years. Windjammers 2 is a sports game with a top-down perspective in which players have the task of scoring as many goals as possible with a frisbee. Game Pass subscribers can play the game from the first day. There will be ten playable characters, of which six of them are returning from the original game. This game is in development by Dotemu, while the first game was developed and published by Data East for the Neo Geo arcade system.
Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 (PC/PS4/PS5/Nintendo Switch/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S) – January 27
The Gunvolt series has many spin-offs that can easily confuse players who are not a fan of the series. Luminous Avenger iX 2 is the sequel second sequel to Mighty Gunvolt that is a spin-off of Azure Striker Gunvolt. This game is a 2d side-scrolling action game similar to Mega Man games. Players will take control of Gunvolt like the previous games, but it would be the best game to start the journey of Gunvolt.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus (Nintendo Switch) – January 28
Pokemon fans are probably the happiest fans of all time because every year, there is at least one well-made Pokemon game. Arceus will serve as a prequel to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Like the previous games of this series, Arceus is an action role-playing game set in the bygone era of the Sinnoh region, but the developers mentioned the game’s setting is not the same as the previous games. The game was announced at the Pokemon 25th Anniversary event, and Game Freak has developed the game.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PS5 and PC) – January 28
Yet another exclusive masterpiece that comes to PC, now PS5 and PC owners can play the enhanced versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The fourth installment of the Uncharted series is the last adventure of Nathan Drake, while the Lost Legacy is more like a spin-off that has the potential to have its own sequels. These games will support 4K resolution with 60FPS, which means some beautiful and eye resting views.
There are still tons of great games that will come later in the year. January would be a crazy month for PC owners since they can experience two of the best games that were released exclusively for PlayStation 4. This is but a small preview of some of the anticipated games coming in January 2022.
