Once the only ranged weapon in Minecraft, the humble bow is often outclassed by Tridents and Crossbows in the modern game. But a well-enchanted bow can still be one of the best weapons in the game. Take a read of our guide to the best bow enchantments in Minecraft.

Infinity or Mending?

The first question you need to answer when considering a Minecraft bow enchantment is whether you will use Infinity or Mending? These are mutually exclusive, meaning you can’t have both. Mending means the bow can be repaired using experience, while Infinity will mean you only have to carry a single arrow.

The trade-off really comes when deciding whether you want to shoot very quickly without worrying about arrows or if you’re prepared to take more time with your shots. If you’re more into rapid fire, pick Infinity. If you’re a sniper, pick Mending.

Flame

Beyond these two main enchantments, you can also get Flame. Flame is a unique enchantment that adds fire damage to any enemies hit with your arrows when added to your bow. We recommend combining it with Power and Infinity for deadly use in combat.

Power

After either Infinity or Mending, and Flame, Power would be the next enchantment we consider one of the best for the bow. This is because Power increases the damage to your bows, making it a worthwhile addition via enchanting. You can also stack it up to level five.

Punch?

You can also combine your bow with an enchantment called Punch for great effect, as Punch will increase the knockback effect to mobs and players. However, since Punch actually makes it harder to hit mobs and doesn’t affect boss monsters such as the Warden, Wither, or Ender Dragon, we recommend only using it if you specifically need the utility of knocking things off of high surfaces!
