In his statement, Mori said that he had discussed the ending of Berserk with Miura since the “Eclipse” event 30 years ago. After Miura’s passing, he thought about discussing the ending in different ways for fans. These ways featured either some illustrations with an article or with an interview. Ultimately, it was decided that these methods were insufficient. He accepted Studio Gaga’s offer to continue the manga with a promise to “recall as much as possible to tell the story.”

“Berserk” Manga and Mori’s Promise to Fans

Along with this decision to continue the Berserk manga, the story will also have different ending credits for each chapter. These credits will read “Orignal story by Kentarou Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori.”

Studio Gaga was Kentarou Miura’s studio that he worked at with his assistants and apprentices (including Kouji Mori). Many of these people have worked on the Berserk manga with him. Kouji Mori is a close childhood friend of Miura and was frequently consulted with plot details for the story. In his statement, Mori said that he “knows the story for Berserk up to the very end.” He has also drawn a one-shot manga in Young Animal that tells the story of his and Miura’s friendship.

Miura passed away on May 6th, 2021, due to acute aortic dissection. He was 54. Since his passing, many creators have been offering their condolences.

Both Mori and the Young Animal editing department promise not to “deviate from Mr. Miura’s own words.” It is unknown when the continuing manga chapters for Berserk will be published.
