At the moment, Batman’s future in the DCEU is unclear, to say the least. Trailers for The Batman continue to release, showcasing Pattinson’s take on the Caped Crusader. And beyond that, it seems that Michael Keaton will make an appearance in the upcoming Flash movie. Ben Affleck is also expected to be in The Flash, but apparently, this is his last film. Whether that means Barry Allen will create a Flashpoint paradox that gets rid of Affleck is unknown. What has been confirmed is that Michael Keaton will take over as the DCEU’s new Batman after The Flash. Ben Affleck has recently taken to reminiscing before his DCEU departure. And with it has come a huge outpour of fan love for what they call Batfleck.

Affleck Appreciates His Last Moments as The Bat

The recent flux in Batfleck fan love comes in the wake of the budding PR campaign for The Flash. Affleck has mentioned that his time on Zack Snyder’s Justice League and The Flash has given him a great finishing point. He believes that his best acting is actually in The Flash itself. Due to the unfortunate direction of Batman v. Superman and Justice League‘s first take, Batfleck didn’t cut it. That said, it hasn’t stopped fans from appreciating Ben Affleck’s work before his DCEU departure in November.

Something that fans have come to realize about Batfleck is that the actor himself is not to blame. Both initial portrayals of Batman were interesting but too scatterbrained to be impactful. It wasn’t until Justice League was given its highly popular four-hour-long cut that things fell into place. Fans have begun to recognize that Affleck brings a very human, heartfelt approach to the screen. Specifically, thanks to his portrayal of Bruce Wayne (now 20ish years into his career as Batman), we see a more grizzled yet professional Batman – one who wants to give the Earth a second chance, and a fighting chance at that. Honestly, he was perfect for the current Justice League roster. Like many other fans, I’m sad to see him go.
