So why were the Brü Crew from the 7th season of Below Deck so hated by fans? Well, if any of you watched the show, you know the answer to that. Captain Lee was at the heart of all these problems. He brought back the hated Rhylee Gerber, and it changed the energy on deck immediately. Namely, certain females were intentionally being given menial, useless tasks to keep them busy. On top of this, there was a blatant air of sexism and treating the women as ‘less than.’ As you can imagine, this did not sit well with fans of the show.

Or anyone in 2022, for that matter.

Basic trigger warning: this gets pretty vulgar with strong leanings toward sexual violence against women.

Below Deck Brü Crew Frat Boy Energy

Via ScreenRant:

“The Brü Crew has been slammed as misogynistic by Below Deck fans, as well as by third stew Courtney. She and Brian were involved in a boatmance that fell apart after the two kept fighting over the boat dynamics. Brian often accused Courtney of sticking up for the other women instead of him, while she felt he always teamed up with the male crew. The boys vs. girls mentality blew up during a cast night out at a Thai market in Thailand. Rhylee expressed her excitement about trying fried scorpions, but Kevin had bought them all. Rhylee told Kevin to ‘move along,’ which caused him to go back to the Brü Crew and complain about her. Ashton then asked Kevin, ‘Did you slap her with your d***?’”

Wow, that’s absolutely unforgivable and sickening. The Brü Crew were hated by so many due to the fact of their inherent f-boy energy. In 2022, the world tolerates that kind of gross behavior less and less, so to see it blatantly celebrated on a TV show is hard to stomach. It honestly changed the dynamic of the show completely and, in doing so, lost a lot of fans.

Here’s hoping we never see that behavior allowed on Below Deck again.
