Bayonetta 3 is the highly-anticipated next entry for everyone’s favorite hack-n-slashing witch. But fans have gone a long while without an update. In fact, it’s been a little over 3 years since the logo teaser at the 2017 Game Awards. And developer PlatinumGames and publisher Nintendo have been relatively quiet ever since. But the wait might finally be coming to an end if the game’s director, Hideki Kamiya, gets his way.

Bayonetta 3 News Coming Soon?

Kamiya and PlatinumGames co-founder Atsushi Inaba recently sat down with VGC. Kamiya, who also directed the original Bayonetta and worked on the sequel’s story, spoke earlier this year about his desire to reveal the long-awaited sequel. When asked about the possibility of an update, here’s what Kamiya said:

“Safe to expect” is better than nothing. When pressed about if the update would be more substantial than another CGI logo, Kamiya laughed and said:

Bayonetta 2 was originally released in 2014 as a Wii U exclusive. However, it along with the first game were ported to the Switch in 2018. The first game was also remastered last year and packaged with another PlatinumGames title, Vanquish. Remasters and ports are great for bringing in new players and updating elements for fans. But hopefully, Kamiya gets what he wants and we can all get an update on the title this year.
