Fans of Batman Beyond are in for a shakeup! A new Batwoman is soon to grace the pages of the comic series, adding yet another addition to the Bat-Family. While her identity at this point is still unclear, she is arriving at a time when Neo-Gotham needs her most!
Batwoman Beyond: Who is Under the Mask?
The cover art for Batman Beyond #37 shows a character with a long red ponytail in the Batsuit. The official synopsis for issue #38 tells the reader that it is Batwoman. Recently, current Batman Terry McGinnis went on the run to escape police forces chasing after him. His absence comes at a time where Derek Powers aka Blight resurfaces and goes after Bruce Wayne. The former Dark Knight will call upon new and old friends to help, but it appears that will not be enough. The only way to stop Blight is to have somebody else don the Batsuit – even if she is still learning the ropes!
Fans have speculated who could be under the Batwoman mask. Maxine “Max” Gibson is a friend of Terry’s and knows his superhero identity. Perhaps she will fill the Batsuit’s boots while he is gone. However, former Royal Flush Gang member Melanie Walker aka Ten of Hearts has turned over a new leaf recently, so maybe she will take up the mantle. Last but not least, the red hair could hint at a Kate Kane-related character.
Batman Beyond #37 will reportedly reveal the identity of this new Batwoman when it releases on October 23. The issue hits shelves the same month that the CW’s Batwoman TV show airs and the Batman Beyond animated series comes out on Blu-Ray. Despite the imminent dangers, the future still appears bright for the Bat-Family!
