The Battlefield V home site has just informed everyone that the 5v5 competitive game mode will not be making a debut in the new update – nor will it ever be released. EA Dice Senior Producer Ryan McArthur has made the announcement pretty clear that the mode wasn’t going to be part of the fast-paced action shooter.

The Battlefield V 4.4 update will be more focused toward correcting the certain bugs, mechanics, hitboxes, and overall community. Also, the announcement of two new maps, Provence and Lofoten Islands, with two modes: Squad Conquest and Team Deathmatch. The 4.6 update to release in September will be focused on the Pacific coast and will add the returning to Iwo Jima along with a plethora of game modes. These are Team Deathmatch, Breakthrough, and Squad Conquest.

This change in focus allows us to better deliver on our promise of new content that we know our players will love, as well as providing new ways to enjoy some of our more intense existing modes.

Battlefield V was released on November 9th, 2018. The World War II shooter has the player taking on the role of a soldier and fighting through vast, open-world maps of classic battles. Battlefield V Chapter 4 was released late June and Chapter 5 will be coming out late October or Early November of 2019.
