EA forced to respond after outdated info uncovered by fans and spreads.
Battlefield 5 will see the Grand Operations Mode and Tides of War available at launch. That is, despite EA telling fans that it wouldn’t be. Apparently someone messed up when posting some pretty crucial information regarding the launch features for Battlefield 5 on the game’s website.
EA says that the information posted regarding the delay of Grand Operations mode was outdated, and that they’ve updated it to confirm that Grand Operations will be playable at launch as part of Tides of War.
“A previous version of this article stated that Battlefield V Grand Operations would be available shortly after launch, based on development plans as of June 9, the date the story published. The article has been updated to reflect that Grand Operations will be playable at launch and as part of Tides of War,” reads the updated article.
The real odd part here is that this article from DICE was posted on June 9th, 2018. The original wording in the article said that “shortly after launch” Grand Operations would arrive, so why did news outlets start picking up the news as late as yesterday?
Well, someone posted this outdated information to Reddit, it bubbled up to the top of the r/Battlefield forum and voila, you’ve got a news story that requires a response from the developer.
Regardless, it looks like Battlefield V will launch with Grand Operations and Tides of War when it hits the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 19th, 2018.
