DICE and Sony have announced a special deal for Playstation Plus members where they can download and play Battlefield 4 for free on PS3. Unfortunately this isn’t like the usual PS+ deals where you get to keep the game, instead it is a special demo that will allow you to play for 168 hours, which is a full week of play. This special deal comes the same day that a massive update has hit, fixing many of the long-running issues fans have had with the game.
The store will be refreshing later today so just keep an eye out for the deal as it hasn’t become available just yet. Once it is you can follow these directions to download your free trial:
- Navigate to PlayStation Store on your PS3.
- Search for “BATTLEFIELD 4″ and select Battlefield 4 Game.
- Click “Full Game Trial.”
- Click “Download.”
- Download and install the trial. Please give it some time as Battlefield 4 is a big game with a lot of updates being constantly added.
The trial seems to be for the entire game as the post specifies “You’ll get 168 hours with the entire experience, including 64 player all-out war in multiplayer, and the intense single-player campaign” (Note: As some have pointed out the PS3 can only handle 24 players max, but the blog post says 64 so I’ll leave the quote. Just know that you’ll be playing as normal on your PS3). Many have asked whether progress will be transferred to the full game if players purchase it after the demo. While an answer has not been specifically provided it is a safe bet that it will.
