It’s unclear what next-gen platforms DICE’s Battlefield 4 will arrive on this fall. The developer is playing coy about launch platforms at the moment, and despite recently revealing the shooter to the world, has yet to officially confirm whether or not Battlefield 4 will arrive on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720.
Though according to a report out of Polygon, an EA official has confirmed that Battlefield 4 will arrive on the PlayStation 4. This is alongside the already confirmed launch on Windows PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. It’s a weird approach that EA is using. For those that are interested in the shooter, but are also already locked in to purchase a PlayStation 4 when it arrives this holiday season, there’s really no option to pre-order the game at this point.
The weird thing is, pre-orders have begun for Battlefield 4 and they’ve already been incentivized to wrangle-in the most ardent fans. Pre-order customers will recieve a Premium Expansion Pack whose contents have yet to be disclosed, but it will likely be similar to the Back to Karkand Expansion that Battlefield 3 saw. For those that pre-order the game for PC on Origin you’ll also receive the Premium Expansion Pack, access to the beta, as well as in-game content.
It looks like if you’re waiting on that pre-order for next-gen, you’ll likely need to wait until both Sony confirms a release date for the PS4, and Microsoft confirms that their next-gen console is indeed on the way.
If you missed the world premiere of Battlefield 4, you’ll want to take a look at this 17 minute long single player demo. It’s nothing short of jaw dropping in the visuals department.
