When Battlefield 3 launches this fall it will be the self proclaimed “deepest shooter in DICE’s history”.  What this means for gamers is that you’ll be facing plenty of rewards for your time well spent with the game.  In a recent edition of Battleblog, the developers spoke about the legions of loyal Battlefield fans, and addressed the fact that there will always be something left to accomplish in the upcoming shooter.  The developer claims that even as far out as 2013, you’ll still be having as much fun with the game as at launch.

There will be plenty of hardware to unlock in Battlefield 3.  Working through each individual class, you’ll earn perks in the form of new guns or other weapons that can be used on the battlefield. You’ll also be rewarded for showing “exemplary skill” in matches.  By completing team based objectives and other skill based rewards you’ll earn ribbons which will also add to your tally of points in the quest for leveling up.  As you do level up, you’ll also be earning milestone achievements that show just how dedicated you have been to the game.

Depending on the kit you choose to play with, you’ll earn service stars as well.  These stars will be added to your weapon skill badge, vehicle, kit, and overall rank.  Each time your card is displayed to the public, your enemy will have the opportunity to see that score, and see just how good you are with a particular set of weapons.  DICE notes that the ultimate score would be achieving the rank of Colonel with 100 service stars attached, with 100 stars in all weapons, kits, and vehicles.  Though getting there won’t be easy, they tease.

As most gamers do, they get comfortable with specific weapons, and in Battlefield 3 there’s a lot of customization that can be done to your loadouts.  The rewards system is set up in such a way that you’ll be rewarded with the weapons, attachments, scopes, grips, and other upgrades for a particular weapon the more you use it, and the more proficient you get with it.
