Pre-order Editions Galore!
Battlefield 2042 is rapidly approaching its launch date this October, with players eagle eying the next installment of the renowned franchise. As with any Battlefield release, there is a variety of different editions with meticulous details about each one listed on marketplaces across the games industry. This guide will serve as your information desk for everything you need to know about each edition, access to the beta, and all of the extra bonus content so you can deploy into the battlefield even sooner.
Battlefield 2042 Editions Explained
There are three separate editions available for pre-order, each of these have extra bonuses depending on what one you opt to buy. Regardless of what edition you decide to buy, early access to the open beta will be given to everyone who pre-orders which we will discuss further on in this article.
The Standard Edition
The Standard Edition includes the following content:
- Early access to the Open Beta
- “Mr Chompy” Epic Weapon Charm
- Baku ACB-90 ‘Epic Melee Takedown Knife’
- A “Landfall” Player Card Background and “Old Guard” Tag
The prices for the Standard Edition are as follows:
- PC: $59.99 (£49.99)
- PS5/ Xbox Series X/ Xbox Series S: $69.99 (£69.99)
- PS4/ Xbox One: $59.99 (£59.99)
The Gold Edition
The Gold Edtion includes all of the content included in the Standard Edition along with the following:
- Year one pass, includes 4 new ‘Specialists’, 4 battle passes, and 3 epic skin bundles
- Early access to game launch on October the 15th
- Cross-gen bundle
The prices for the Gold Edition are as follows:
- PC: $89.99 (£79.99)
- Consoles: $99.99 (£89.99)
The Ultimate Edition
The Ultimate Edition includes all the previous content along with:
- The Midnight Ultimate bundle that includes the Shadow Stalker Legendary Outfit, the Obsidian Legendary Weapon Skin, and an ‘Onyx’ Legendary Vehicle Skin
- Official Digital Artbook
- Exclusive Digital Soundtrack

When is the Battlefield 2042 Beta?
There has been no official announcement on the start of the open beta, except that it will take place sometime in September, a rumor has been circulating that the beta could be starting within the next few weeks, even as early as this Thursday.
When does Battlefield 2042 release?
Battlefield 2042 releases to the world on October 22, except for players who preordered either the Gold Edition, the Ultimate Edition, or have access to EA Play, who will all receive the full game to play on October 15.
