Gearbox’s first-person shooter, MOBA mashup Bloodborne has gone gold according to company president Randy Pitchford. This means that principle development and work on the game is complete, and discs are being manufactured to be shipped to retailers. While work isn’t totally done, as the focus simply shifts to patches, support, and future DLC, it is a major milestone for any game to hit on its path toward release.

“Exciting news: Battleborn retail is ready! Back in the day we would say “Gone Gold!” Team is stoked and hard at work on support, beta, etc.” tweeted Randy Ptchford.

We previously got to go hands-on with Battleborn, coming away very impressed with the work that Gearbox had done on this MOBA. Many titles have come out in the genre as of late, but Gearbox seems to have focused on some key innovations and changes that should help bring in new fans, while satisfying those who are already familiar with the mechanics.

Battleborn is very much in the same vein as Gearbox’s other massive series, Borderlands, though it really shifts the gameplay into new territory with the MOBA elements. Whether or not it all comes together perfectly will be determined when Battleborn hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 3rd.
