The first trailer for Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One has been released by Warner Bros. Animation.
Jensen Ackles of Supernatural fame is taking on the role of Batman for Part One and Part Two of the animated films. Ackles had previously voiced Jason Todd in Batman: Under the Red Hood. He also had previously been a part of the DC Universe in Smallville. Naya Rivera will also co-star as the voice of Catwoman, posthumously. The Glee actress died in July 2020 after saving her young son in a boating accident. This will be her final project.
The movie is inspired by a 13-article arc from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. Published in 1996 and 1997, the storyline is one of the Caped Crusader’s most famous. Set early in Batman’s career, the story shows Batman moving from fighting mobsters and thugs to supervillains. The story tells the origin of Two-Face and created Calendar Man. It also features the Joker, the Riddler, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Solomon Grundy, Carmine Falcone, and Mad Hatter.

In addition to Ackles and Rivera, Batman: The Long Halloween stars Josh Duhamel as Two-Face, Billy Burke as James Gordon, Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchian as Calendar Man, Troy Baker as Joker, Amy Landecker as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid as Alberto Falcone, Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy, and Alistair Duncan as Alfred Pennyworth.
If animated features aren’t your speed, the next live-action look at The Caped Crusader is The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. That film will be released in March 2022 and is also set early in Batman’s career.
