On September 21st, 2019, cities around the world participated in the celebration of Batman‘s 80th anniversary. DC and Warner Bros. participated in various festivities across the globe, and some of those festivities may surprise you!

The Dark Knight first appeared in Detective Comics #27 on March 30th, 1939. Since then, Batman has become one of the most iconic heroes in comic book history. The fan-favorite caped crusader has spawned countless comic book issues, toys, video games, television series, and movies. With good reason! Because of this popularity, it’s no surprise that Batman’s 80th birthday would be celebrated around the world.

Sales were held at comic book stores, and Batman’s parent companies even hosted 5k runs to celebrate the hero. However, there is one element to this worldwide birthday party which holds the greatest shock factor of all. Blazing upon skies and landmarks worldwide, the Bat-Signal was seen shining!

Montreal, New York, Tokyo, London, Los Angeles, Paris, and Rome. These are just a few of the cities in which the Bat-Signal could be seen! Of course, the full list is much longer, because no expense can be spared when celebrating the world’s greatest detective.

In all, Batman‘s 80th birthday was perhaps one of the most widespread celebrations in history. And therefore, thanks are due to the Dark Knight once again for reminding citizens worldwide of their ability to unify and rejoice! Besides, why shouldn’t there be unity on a day dedicated to the most staunch defender of justice?

If you were lucky enough to witness the awe-inspiring insignia at one of these locations, then you ought to cherish that memory forever! Otherwise, you may at least feel safe within the knowledge that Batman’s 80th birthday brought the world together! Stay brave and stay bold!
