80 years of Batman. Wow. The Caped Crusader has starred in all manner of comic books, movies, TV Shows and merchandise and is still going strong today. But there’s one slice of popular culture he’s yet to get his teeth into – Fortnite.

That is, until now. To celebrate the Dark Knight’s 80th anniversary, the good folks at Fortnite have started a ‘Caped Crossover’ with the Bat. This big event, which started on 21st September (Batman Day) and ends on October 6th, brings a whole host of Bat-themed goodness to the table.

Firstly, as this Fortnite blog post explains, players get their own Batcape and unlimited glider redeploy. The latter feature works in tandem with Batman’s famous grappling gun – fire the gun at, say, a building and the line will launch you into the air. Then, you can activate the Batcape which allows you to traverse great distances via the air.

For those looking for a more cosmetic change, a couple of Batsuits are also available. Essentially ‘skins’ for the player to wear, you have a choice between ‘comic book’ Batman and the ‘Nolanverse’ version from The Dark Knight.

But if Catwoman is more your jam, great news. A costume also exists for her, too. Only one outfit for Catwoman however – just in case you were expecting to be shooting people in Anne Hathaway’s garb from Rises.

These features are merely the tip of the iceberg. Fans can rack up some more kills with the new Explosive Batarang while all of Tilted Town becomes Gotham City. Meanwhile, the patch that gives you this stuff eradicates the Final Storm Circles in Tilted Town, Moisty Palms, Greasy Grove, Retail Row and Pressure Plant.

No word yet as to whether the Dark Knight’s inclusion in the game will inspire Matt Reeves to have a scene of Batman doing the Fortnite dance in his upcoming film.
