The highly anticipated Batgirl movie was canceled only last week by Warner Bros., and ever since then, fans have been uncertain as to what else might be on the chopping block next. Reports suggest that the Supergirl movie might be in danger as well.

According to Rolling Stone, things have changed a lot in Warner Bros. as it transitions to Warner Bros. Discovery. And the Batgirl movie was probably not the last project to get canned. Insiders working on the Supergirl film said that it “is not likely to move forward.”

Plans For The Supergirl Movie

The Supergirl movie has been in development since 2018, and Sasha Calle is playing the role of Kara Danvers. Fans recently got a look at her in costume, and she was an instant hit.

The new Supergirl was initially meant to be shown in the solo Flash movie starring Ezra Miller. After which, she was to get her own movie, but with her movie possibly getting canceled, the chances of her showing up in the Flash solo film also seem despairingly low.

These changes within the studio point in a very different direction. If the past is any clue, other superheroes might also be in the crosshairs of Warner Bros. Other promised films were Blue Bettle starring Xolo Maridueña as well as Black Canary starring Jurnee Smollett.

Warner Bros. Future

Since the Discovery merger has already brought a lot of changes, all the aforementioned projects are also in an uncertain situation. For better or for worse, some expected plans might get scrapped, with new ones taking their place.

The only movie not in danger (so far) is Joaquin Pheonix’s Joker 2, which is still sticking to its plans. And that makes sense too. With the first movie raking in over a billion dollars, not making a sequel would be a huge mistake. The next movie is currently filming and could feature Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
