It seems our next potential Joker has hit some personal trouble as well. Barry Keoghan has had a relatively successful year. He held a key role as Druig in Eternals and acted as The Joker in Pattinson’s The Batman debut. Though the latter was only a cameo, it was a big step nonetheless. Further, he received a longer on-screen debut as Joker in a popular deleted scene. However, it seems things are not going well for the star himself. The Eternals actor, Barry Keoghan, has been arrested on charges of public intoxication. The news comes several days after his arrest on April 10 in Dublin, Ireland.
Barry Keoghan Was Arrested Without Incident
In classic Eternals form, Barry Keoghan was passive and caused no issues when he was arrested. Irish police officers found Keoghan acting drunk and disorderly on an apartment balcony. He did not threaten anyone, nor did he resist arrest. After being brought in for public intoxication, Barry Keoghan was dealt with and soon after released. Both the Irish police force and Keoghan have confirmed nothing more will come of it. Keoghan has made no official statement about the incident so far. As a result, his reasonings are currently unclear.
This incident comes only a short time after the infamous Ezra Miller debacle. For those unaware, Miller was arrested for disorderly conduct in a karaoke bar in Hawaii. Miller was more of an issue than Keoghan himself. There were even rumors of long-term damage to his DCEU career. Thankfully, it seems those rumors are false.
Additionally, further charges against Miller have been dropped. Barry Keoghan and Ezra Miller have both had these issues within a month. Funnily enough, they both also have major roles to play in the current DCEU. Hopefully, the two of them, Keoghan especially, stick around for a while.
